for those of you who know me, know that i love being a matchmaker. but not in the traditional sense. 'the thrill is in the find' when a friend, mum, sis or a stranger finds their new pair of specs. (love)
my circle of influence so far (in no particular order): ben (vintage oliver peoples), melissa (cutler and gross), eric (x?), mum (barton perreira), nancy (paul smith), michael (cutler and gross), dorothy (tom ford), noor (sunglasses: vintage oliver peoples, x for specs), sarah (super), jennifer (tom ford), ashley: tbd.
pics will follow.
what makes for a perfect match/pair? my theories as follows:
1. confidence (despite who great the frame is, you need to have the confidence to wear them)
2. shape (not all frames suit all frames (head). if your head is round don't do round specs or the shallow/narrow frames. they just don't work.
3. avoid any and all specs that are bedazzled. reasons are obvious.
4. don't opt for the specs that are notoriously linked to pervs. reasons are obvious, unless that's the look you're going for.
5. ici berlin's are intended for scientists and engineers. unless you work in these professions, avoid this brand. it's too structural and boring.
6. take you're time. the perfect pair awaits.
i'll fill in the blanks later and perhaps share the name of the specs.
until then, if you need assistance with spectacle shopping… i'm for hire.
